Yorkshire Terriers are very fragile and delicate; therefore, you must be extremely cautious when choosing a reputable and conscientious breeder. If you come across a vividly colored advertisement or a newspaper announcement, do not yield up to temptation. Pet shop puppies usually come from money-hungry ‘puppy mills’, who produce large numbers of underfed and unhealthy Yorkshire Terriers.

Do not purchase puppies from street brokers because they usually work for puppy mills. Yorkshire Terriers are extremely vulnerable, and even a small mistake in raising or care can result in a serious health problem, which may become incurable by the time it surfaces.

Therefore, the choice of a responsible Yorkshire Terrier breeder is crucial for the betterment of your dogs life. Reputable breeders are fully devoted to their puppies, and they invest a lot of energy, time and cash into the well-being of the breed.

Responsible breeders screen potential buyers for their true intentions by asking them about their lives, homes, families and other pets in their homes. They lecture would-be dog-owners on the breed’s history, standard and show ring regulations, as well as on veterinary requirements and registration certificates. They never sell Yorkshire Terriers to poorly informed or irresponsible people.

Unfortunately, many puppies get abandoned, because of many unexpected things that occur during the process of raising. This is much because many people buy puppies randomly, without receiving sufficient knowledge about the breed and its specific features, or simply because they happen to be not truly devoted. Some people have to move away from their current residences, or lose the ability to watch after and care for dogs due to traumas and disablements.

It should be noted, that rescue organizations never experience shortage of abandoned pups, and it is far not always the case that the dog you no longer want to see in your house is accepted. There are a number of good reasons why you may have the right to have your pet adopted out. Reasons, like 'I cannot keep this dog because I'm getting married' or 'It is not what I thought it would be' are not applicable to Yorkshire Terriers or any other breed whatsoever.

Yorkshire Terriers Breeders - Yorkshire Terriers originated in Europe about 150 years ago. That time is known as the Industrial Revolution and is characterized by work force migration. Yorkshire was one of the most attractive places to find work for Scotsmen who could not support their families anymore. Relying solely on income in the agriculture business for these Scotsmen was out of the question.

Scotsmen needed a cure for rats that flooded their mines. They found it, having brought the Clydesdale Terrier to Yorkshire. The dog was crossed later with the English Black and the Tan Toy Terrier, and, very likely, with the Maltese Terrier to produce a good hunting breed, that was also beautiful and amiable. That was the way breeders produced Yorkshire Terriers.

Yorkshire Terriers Pictures - Yorkshire Terriers are characterized by lively behavior, friendliness and intelligence. Like most Terriers, Yorkies enjoy moving around, playing and running. Nevertheless, individual dogs tend to be capricious if not trained properly. Special attention should be paid to obedience training since Yorkies are second to none in barking.

They do perfectly well in an apartment, a house, or a farm. Placing Yorkshire Terriers outside is possible (they are not afraid of getting cold), but not recommended. Yorkshire Terriers have not changed much over the time. The first breed standard appeared in 1898. The breed has acquired many adherents due to its beauty and personality traits.

Yorkshire Terriers Puppies - Yorkshire Terriers are wonderful dogs to consider. They make affectionate pets but are usually rather careful with strangers. These people-oriented dogs are great for large cities. They do not need too much exercise and will always let the owner sleep a few additional hours in the morning. Several short walks a day will be enough to keep the dog fit.

Yorkies do not eat much. Plain food with a sufficient amount of vitamins and microelements is preferable. Yorkshire Terriers can experience digestion problems. That is why they need a thoroughly planned diet. It will also help to keep the coat brilliant.

Yorkshire Terriers - Yorkshire Terriers are Toy Dogs weighing no more than 7 pounds and standing at the shoulder no higher than 6-7 inches. Their long straight silky hair is tan with steal blue at the roots. The skull is flat with a moderately long muzzle and V-shaped erect ears. Eyes and the edge of eyelids are black, as well as the nose. The docked tail should neither curve over the back, nor be drawn between the legs.
